There is no precise dollar size to our fund. The 501(c)3 is well funded, and Rent Relief will always meet demand thanks to the three primary contributors of the fund that ensure it remains sustainable:
- Foundation donations: We have access to significant balance sheet capital to meet the demand (notable contributors: Target Foundation, Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, Global Good Fund, and Acumen Foundation).
- Esusu stock: Set allocation of Esusu's founders' shares which continue to grow in size as the company is successful.
- Renter repayments: The fund is intended to be self-sustaining as renters repay their loans to Rent Relief
Do we have ongoing fundraising efforts?
We are always open to new contributions to the fund. We have several partnerships with philanthropic organizations that support our program. Notable contributors include the Target Foundation, Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, Global Good Fund, and Acumen Foundation.
Are the funds donated by foundations restricted in how they may be used (e.g. earmarked for certain regions, etc.)?
Rent Relief’s public donations do not have any specified covenants or restrictions. Certain philanthropic partners have requested their funds be allocated to a specific geography to align with their organizational mandates.
