During a period of unexpected financial hardship, renters living in Esusu properties have access to apply for Rent Relief—a forgivable, interest-free, and penalty-free loan—when they are unable to make a rental payment. Through Esusu's non-profit partner, Stable Home Fund, Rent Relief may pay up to three months of rent (or up to $5,000) directly to the owner/operator, and renters make their best efforts to repay the disbursed funds over a 12-month repayment term.
The Rent Relief Program started operating in 2020 at the height of the pandemic. It is designed as a rapid-response emergency rental assistance fund to help renters navigate one-time financial shocks and crises.
Stable Home Fund is a 501(c)(3) public charity organization. The organization's flagship program is a rent relief fund that helps keep renters in their homes during financial distress. Stable Home Fund defines the criteria for Rent Relief, and approvals are overseen by Stable Home Fund's independent Board of Directors. Esusu, in partnership with Stable Home Fund, manages the disbursement of funds.
